MADE FOR STRAWBERRY JAM 9

You're a down-on-your-luck adventurer who wakes up in a tavern with an urgent need for gold to pay off debts. You meet a hooded figure in the tavern who offers you the opportunity to win gold in a game of chance, a dice game called "Snake Eyes". arf?

this is so hot, thank you so much for making this and i cant wait to see more of your work :3

I am 60% certain the naga cheats. Still, all three endings are a win, so it's not like I care too much :3

I've been enjoying it so far! I was actually thinking that below a certain will threshold that the player would allow the naga to choose both dice for them, which might be an interesting thought for you to play with.

theres no way, im really good at betting games, ive played 6 rounds, he got 1 under the line 3 times in a row and i went over the line by 1 the first time and last two rounds, im about to crash out, if i play safe he gets right under the line, if i take a risk i always bust by 1, am i really just that unlucky today? i cant fucking do this, if i keep playing im gonna have a mental breakdown so im out

(+1)

also having to wait 5 seconds after losing for the "drop" is making it so much worse

im a fucking addict so i kept playing and i lost 4 more times the same way, what the fuck, what are the odds of this shit happening 10 times in a row? i cant remember the exact lines but im pretty sure it was

6 3 times

7 2 times

8

9

11

13

and one other i cant remember

and every time, i either busted by 1 or he was 1 under and beat me because i was 2 under, what are the odds of this horseshit

I agree that the wait times are annoying, but as far as winning goes, I only managed after a game where I got lucky and started by winning 5 in a kind-of row, with a few pushes in between. That ending is basically "debt paid, the end".

thank you SO much for telling me! now that i know, losing 10 in a row wont feel like total shit!

Heck yeah this is really good <3 I would LOVE to see visuals with this game too if you ever get around to it. (You could even make a version that actually hypnotizes the players if they want.)

Simple premise, but lots of potential. For one, there are a lot of other stats that could be played around with, and maybe cause physical rather than mental changes, like str causing feminization. Then there's the patrons which maybe in the future you could interact with and respond to your changes, or change you to their liking.

Looking forward to see what comes next

YEAAA!!! FIRST GAME AND I WON AT 4 WILL AND 10 INT. But I did try to get some extra coin and lost 2 INT but I made out with an extra 50. So really it's 4 WILL and 8 INT

I was lucky that I got a consistent 3-4 win streak to the 2-3 loss streak and VERY lucky to win my one and only all-in round

Also NO BUGS during the time I played 👍

Actually there is a bug, When I got 20 WILL 0 INT the first top half has the dog ending and the bottom half has the slave ending

It happened when my INT was in 1 and I was able to bet 2 INT

Thanks! Fixed

I seem to have encountered a bug. I immediately lost after losing will once and now none of my stats are set they are $playerXXX

Should be fixed now (hopefully)!

Heyo!! First of all, I love the idea and the dice game was great! My first playthrough, I actually won (with like 4 int and 3 will left haha) so I think the difficulty is great! I encountered some bugs though - replaying resulted in the stats on the right being replaced with the variable names ($will/$maxwill), and when I try to play in incognito mode, my Will starts at 0! I'm not complaining much, since the 0 will ending was what I wanted to see. If you're considering additions, I think some gradual change to the inter-game dialogue would be nice as you lose will/intelligence. Perhaps going up to the bull with lower will/intelligence could be cool too! All in all very cool game!

I’ve also run into these bugs, but without Incognito mode – will starts at 0 on my first game, variable names are placeholders on the second.

Thanks for the report! It should be fixed now

Thanks for the report! Restarting should work now without messing up the variables.

I also hopefully fixed the 0 will thing.

And I actually planned on including both those things you suggested, then ran out of time! The plan for will loss specifically was that as your will dropped below some threshold, the dealer would start "recommending" some very bad ideas (i.e. rolling your D12 when your first roll is already close to the line, rolling your D2 when you've already rolled a 1, etc.). The lower your will, the more likely you are to want to do what the dealer says.

The idea was that losing both will and intelligence would incur gameplay detriments, so you kinda get trapped in a losing spiral as your losses accrue (unless you get lucky). I also wanted to make other changes to the dialogue due to having low will/int, but that also was scrapped in the interest of getting this submitted by the jam deadline.

I still plan to implement these features at some point, I just need a solid chunk of time to sit down and code it. I'm open to other suggestions as well!

A new bug, all the variables on the sidebar seem to just read out the variable names instead of their actual values (i.e. Dex just reads as $playerDex, Gold as $playerGold, etc) with any changes to them resulting in [number NaN]

Should be fixed!

You might have a formatting bug! (In the Snake Eyes outcome) It produces "Error: cannot find a closing tag for HTML <span>"

Other than that, this is charming! Have you used any other game tools? I feel like the central mechanic of this game would present really well visually, and I couldn't actually come up with an optimal strategy off the cuff which suggests to me the game itself is basically interesting.

Thank you!!! And no, I only got into Twine as a writer who wanted to have a little more interactivity. I unfortunately have no other gamedev or visual art skills :(

I totally agree that I wish there were at least some visual component here, but it is not in my powers independently. I have considered trying to implement character portraits for the player and the naga, which would change in expression based on the game state and the player's stats, so if I can find an artist I really like and can afford, maybe that'll be in here at some point.

Alternatively (and I assume this is a longshot) if anyone with skills in UI/visual art/other game tools ever wanted to team up to overhaul this game (or at least the concept), I'd be thrilled :)

Great game.

Bug report: There's nothing happened when the will reached 0, and when the int reached 0, it played both bad ending (I assume the Arf one is the 0 int ending and the submit one is the 0 will ending?)

Thanks for the report! Should be fixed :)
